Reduction in Energy Consumption Drives Sustainability = Ventilated Facade Systems

Earn 1 AIA LU.

Covering a building façade has been an important challenge that Fiandre, in partnership with TerraCORE Panels, has overcome. Our ventilated façade system utilizes the fundamental characteristics of ceramic tile that outperforms other cladding material such as natural stone, wood, aluminum and or prefabricated concrete systems while providing unique benefits. In addition, there is no secret that indoor air quality has a significant effect on the occupants of a building. Having said this, porcelain tile ventilated façade systems that incorporate the open joint rain screen system are fast emerging of choice for buildings across a variety of commercial and/or residential sectors today. In fact, ventilated façade systems are playing a key role for sustainable building envelopes especially since reduction in consumption is now driving sustainabiliy.

Learning Objectives:

  • The ventilated facade system as a sustainable building product and why installing a VFS will make the building a more energy-efficient thermal regulator
  • The aluminum curtain wall sub-frame system, as it relates to:
    • GHV exposed mechanical anchor system – vs – GHS concealed undercut mechanical anchoring systems. and, understand how the two anchoring systems transfer the load of the tiles onto the aluminum sub-frame.
    • Porcelain slab integrated window integrated wall system.
    • MTech High Impact Laminated Porcelain Façade System.
  • The ease of installation and the benefits of its low maintenance characteristics.
  • The benefits for the deflection of rain and moisture within the cavity of the VFS.
