Fibre Cement Architectural Facade Materials

The presentation provides detailed information on fibre cement facade materials available and how they can be specified / designed to meet the needs of various project types. This course focuses on pre-planning and design as well as project management for architectural and construction projects including composition of materials and instructions for use.

Learning Objectives

• Understand what through-colored fibre cement cladding materials are, their most important characteristics, and how they can benefit the health of the building.
  
• Understand the material application, fastening techniques, and function of the cladding.
  
• Understand the history of fibre cement and architectural facades with fibre cement materials.
  
• Understand the general design possibilities with through-colored fibre cement facade materials in ventilated rainscreen applications.

  Kellie Knuff Perkins

  

  Kellie Knuff Perkins is the US Sales Manager at EQUITONE. She has spent over 15 years working for building manufacturers that mainly specialize in rainscreen applications. Since January of 2020, Kellie has served on the Board of Directors of the Rainscreen Association in North America. Kellie also serves as Second Vice Chair on the Executive Committee for RAiNA. Kellie began her career in design and construction, working at architectural firms as the Business Development Manager.

  Aaron Seward is Editor-in-Chief of The Architect’s Newspaper. Seward is an award-winning editor whose career has centered on interpreting architecture for the profession and the general public. He was editor of Texas Architect magazine for six years and prior to that held several positions at AN, including executive editor. In addition to those publications, Seward’s writing on architecture, culture, and the built environment has appeared in Architect, Curbed, Domus, Metropolis, and other publications. He has a BA in Literature, Writing and the Arts from The New School for Social Research.
