Michael is a licensed architect with 24 years of experience on a wide range of project types that include programming, planning and design. His work develops design solutions that continuously exceed the client’s needs, while focusing on strong sustainable design approaches. He is a contributor to publications on libraries as energy efficient facilities and speaks frequently on conferences about the integration of a holistic design and high performance. Michael has successfully designed many LEED projects including several LEED Platinum as well as Zero Net Energy buildings. The AIA COTE Top Ten Award-Winning LEED Platinum/ZNE West Berkeley Branch Library is an example of his approach to a design that integrates zero net energy performance with a sensibility for a place creating a unique space shaped by natural resources. Through continuously providing high quality designs he has gained recognition in various publications for award-winning design.
